The Charlton Upbeats is a bespoke programme delivered by CACT for young people with Down’s Syndrome. The sessions are held on Saturdays at the Charlton Athletic Training Ground from 1.00pm – 2.30pm and revolve around football, although other activities are also delivered.

The programme requires £10,000 a year to continue running and is always in need of funding. RCS have pledged to raise £1,000 for The Upbeats by March 2014 and Ben took up the challenge to help with the fundraising drive.

Ben generated a sweepstake at Head Office where RCS colleagues had to guess the time in which he would complete the “race”, with the person guessing closest to his finish time winning a cash prize.

Ben finished the course in the fantastic time of 49 minutes 16 seconds on one of the hottest days of the year so far! A relative of Ben’s had the closest time and therefore won the sweepstake, however, she kindly donated back her winnings, which meant that Ben raised £253.10 for The Upbeats. RCS congratulate Ben on a fantastic achievement and for raising money for such an important cause.

Ben said: “Thank you all very much for your generosity in sponsoring me to raise money for the Upbeats which is a very worthy charity.”

Sophie joined us as an Operations Administrator on 15th July 2013 and has responsibility for supporting our operations team on a daily basis.

Sophie has previous administrative experience within the cleaning industry and we are delighted to welcome Sophie to our team. We wish Sophie the best of luck in her new role.
