We had a fantastic day last Friday volunteering at St Mungo’s Lewisham Assessment and Recovery Centre. The gardening project was led by Peter, St Mungo’s gardening volunteer, and the day consisted of planting a mix of flowering plants, building a rose arch way and picnic table, moving flower beds, and creating a space for the residents to enjoy.

Over the past few years, we have built a strong relationship with St Mungo’s and our partnership has led to a number of mutually beneficial sustainability initiatives. As well as taking part in volunteering projects, we work with St Mungo’s to recruit from within the local community, offering positions to people who have previously been homeless, who have worked through their rehabilitation programme and are now employment ready.

St Mungo’s are committed to supporting their clients throughout this uncertain period. Whilst the full impact of the cost-of-living crisis still remains to be seen, their variety of services are dedicated to supporting people at every step of their recovery journey.

We want to improve health and wellbeing by creating green spaces for people, and nature, and as part of our Better Places strategy, we are dedicated to taking climate action and investing in the quality of life of our local communities.

A massive thank you to our amazing colleagues for volunteering.
