How We Got On at the CBRE Bike Ride

June 30, 2023 by Lizzie Hill Leave a Comment

We had an amazing day in the sunny Surrey Hills at the CBRE Bike Ride to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

On 14th June 2023, we headed to the CBRE Bike Ride at Sandown Park Racecourse to cheer on our riders and set up the Regular Cleaning information stand.

Supporting MacMillan Cancer Support, this event is one of the World’s biggest property bike rides. It’s brilliant to see so many companies coming together to raise money and awareness for this amazing cause. Hundreds of property professionals took part in the day by cycling, fundraising or sponsoring the event. With talks, raffles and prizes being given out after the cycle, as well as refreshment trucks and freebies, everyone could get involved. The day was a real success, raising a huge amount for this amazing charity.

We set up our stand in the shade of the tent and prepared our freebies to give away. Our recyclable and reusable Bottle Made Blue water bottles were the perfect gift for the cyclists to take home from the event. The Made Blue Foundation donates 500 litres of clean drinking water to developing communities for every bottle purchased, providing great social value. We had 300 bottles to give away at the event which has an enormous impact to areas in need.

We were proud to have four cyclists representing Regular Cleaning by taking part in the event. They have raised an incredible £3,450 for Macmillan which is a huge achievement and will make a big difference! It’s great to see our colleagues demonstrating our company values and challenging themselves to Create Better Places. With three routes to choose from, this was no small feat for the riders in the warm June weather. Choosing from a 40km, 70km and 122km route, the cyclists faced a lengthy ride through the beautiful Surrey Hills.

A huge thank you to our Regular Cleaning cyclists that took part. It was fantastic to see Chris Cain, Gustavo Gallo, Darrell Taylor and Vergo’s Adam Obee volunteering to raise money for this cause!

We also had the support of some of our Service Partners which made such a difference to our fundraising. A huge thank you to our sponsors: Planet Mark, Vergo Pest Management, Wessex, Planteria, Simply Washrooms, FAB, Tailormade, Mayflower Washroom Solutions and Team Software by WorkWave for the generous donations.

Regular Cleaning is committed to supporting our society and community work. Our Better Places strategy demonstrates our aim to work to work towards a better future for everyone, every day. It’s amazing to have this opportunity to raise money for a great cause and work together to Create Better Places.

Thank you to everyone who took part, donated and helped to make this day a success.

Bottle Made Blue: Creating Better Places is Thirsty Work

June 14, 2023 by Lizzie Hill 3 Comments

Why we choose to work with Made Blue Foundation. A charity that generates clean water for communities in need through products and services.

Made Blue Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that works to generate clean drinking water for developing communities in need. They provide sustainable solutions that help to deliver their mission of providing clean drinking water for everyone. Made Blue invest in water projects in the countries most in need of clean water in a sustainable and entrepreneurial way, helping to create better places.

Regular Cleaning are joining The Great Property Bike Ride on 14th of June as official sponsors. We’ll be supporting our client CBRE to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

We’ll be handing out some Made Blue Foundation bottles at the finish line to the cyclists taking part. These environmentally friendly bottles help put an end to packaged water and make refilling easier than ever before. Made from indestructible Tritan, they are clear, sturdy and unbreakable. Plus, they are recyclable, reusable and dishwasher safe, and that’s just the start .

For each bottle given out, Made Blue provides 500 liters of clean drinking water to a community in need. This equates to one child from a developing country having access to clean drinking water and hygiene for six months or more. This is such an amazing impact to see and supports our sustainable business strategy to create better places.

This is such a brilliant alternative to the usual throwaway plastic bottle. More than 4kg of plastic waste avoided and such a huge donation made per bottle. With 771,000,000 people globally without access to clean water, these water projects are so vital and make a real difference in people’s lives every day.

It’s brilliant to see organisations working together towards a better future, and we’re thrilled to be able to give these bottles out to the CBRE cyclists and have a positive social impact.

The Great Property Bike Ride: Meet Our Cyclists

June 12, 2023 by Lizzie Hill Leave a Comment

With The Great Property Bike Ride drawing closer, we asked the Regular Cleaning participants how they were feeling about the event. We wanted to know what made them want to take part and what they were most looking forward to about the day.

Taking place on the 14th June 2023, The Great Property Bike Ride brings together over 850 property professionals for a cycling fundraiser in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support. Raising money and awareness for this brilliant charity, we’re so happy to have some of our own taking part in this exciting event.

We asked the riders some questions to find out more about why they wanted to participate in this charity bike ride. Donations to support Macmillan Cancer Support can be made here>>>

Gustavo Gallo

1. What made you want to do the bike ride? I wanted to do it because I love to help these kinds of charities to support people in need, and I love to ride my bike.

2. How much do you usually cycle, and do you have racing experience? I normally cycle every weekend with a bit of experience.

3. What have you been doing to prepare for the bike ride? I normally ride at weekends and take part in other charities like Ride London.

4. What are you most looking forward to about the race? I am looking forward to completing the race.

5. How do you expect to do in the race? I don’t know to be honest, this is my first time I am going to ride with them.

6. How will you celebrate completing the race? Some food maybe and a drink😃

Chris Cain

Chris Cain

1. What made you want to do the bike ride? There were several reasons when I was asked. I want to give my time to worthy causes and support Regular Cleaning and our clients in making a difference to people’s lives. I also wanted to do the ride as a sort of personal challenge, i.e., can I get to the end? And besides, it will be fun!!!!!

2. How much do you usually cycle, and do you have racing experience? I cycle for recreation and general well-being, I certainly don’t race. Well, except against myself, far too old to race. It’s more for mental health, I think through a lot when I’m on my bike. In terms of distance, it depends on the time I have, so anything between 50-100 miles in a good week.

3. What have you been doing to prepare for the bike ride? I’ve been practicing on hills and building up the strength in my legs (and lungs) and working on being able to set a steady pace and maintaining it. That has been a challenge so far.

4. What are you most looking forward to about the event? Beginning as part of a team and proving to myself that I can do it. I’m not going the maximum distance, but getting to the end will be an achievement, and helping raise money for a good cause is the real bonus.

5. Who do you think will come first out of the Regular Cleaning participants? Not me, I will be bringing up the rear. I’ll find out when I get to the finish line.

6. How will you celebrate completing the race? Good question, I guess it will be relief, and probably a couple of beers when I get home as a well done to myself.

Darrell Taylor

1. What made you want to do the bike ride? I enjoy cycling and spend time with my family and friends doing this in my spare time.

2. How much do you usually cycle, and do you have racing experience? I have done some previous rides like Ride London 100 a couple of times. I’m a fair weather cyclist, enjoying summer rides, good time to clear your head too!

3. What have you been doing to prepare for the bike ride? I have been training with a few road rides.

4. What are you most looking forward to about the race? Riding with the team and meeting the CBRE team. There is some great scenery on the ride too!

5. Who do you think will come first out of the Regular Cleaning participants? Gustavo, as he rides the most.

6. How will you celebrate completing the race? A drink with the team I think😊

Adam Obee, Vergo

1. What made you want to do the bike ride? In the last year, I have focused my efforts outside of work to improve my physical and mental health. Through this process, I have lost just under seven stone in weight, which is an excellent opportunity to test myself. MacMillan Cancer Support is also a charity very close to my heart. They supported my late father before his passing in 2021 and have since provided grief counselling to my mother. Their work is truly unique, and this is my opportunity to help give something back.

2. How much do you usually cycle, and do you have racing experience? I usually cycle 5-10 miles weekly but have been working on other cardio fitness.

3. What have you been doing to prepare for the bike ride? I am currently increasing my cycle times and distance.

4. What are you most looking forward to about the race? It is being part of a team and pushing myself as much as possible.

5. How do you expect to do in the race? Whilst I would love to finish 1st, I am looking for a personal best (25 miles in under 2 ½ hours)

6. How will you celebrate completing the race? I’ll be raising a glass to those we miss — the survivors of cancer and those who continue to support everyone going through the journey.

CBRE Great Property Bike Ride in Support of Macmillan

June 6, 2023 by Lizzie Hill 2 Comments

The World’s Biggest Property Bike Ride takes place in June to raise money for Macmillan, and we’re official sponsors.

Regular Cleaning are proud sponsors of CBRE’s Great Property Bike Ride in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

We’ll be joining our partner CBRE on 14th June 2023 to raise funds and awareness for this good cause. With over 850 other property professionals taking part, this event earns the impressive title of ‘The World’s Biggest Property Bike Ride‘.

The purpose of The Great Property Bike Ride is to fundraise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support. You can donate here.

Macmillan exists to support those living with cancer, providing services and support at every stage of their experience. This charity continues to change people’s lives every day, offering the help needed for what can be a lonely time. Proceeds raised will go towards supporting those living with cancer, offering information and support, and providing telephone and virtual buddying services.

Taking place at Sandown Park Racecourse in Esher, the cyclists will take this challenging ride on through scenic Surrey Hills. A village event will follow, with sports massages, refreshments, prize giving and a raffle.

How are Regular Cleaning supporting this event?

It’s such an honour to be able to support this event, and we’re so proud to have some of our own taking part! Three Regular Cleaning colleagues will take part in the cycle, plus a participant from one of our service partners, Vergo. Facing either a a 40km, 70km or 122km ride, this event promises to be no small feat for the cyclists.

We’ll be attending to cheer the riders on and to hand out some Bottle Made Blue bottles as they complete. It’s brilliant to see our Regular Cleaning colleagues taking part and really living the values that our business exists on.

Regular Cleaning is committed to supporting our community and helping society. Our Better Places strategy means we want to work towards a better future and we’re delighted to have this opportunity to raise funds for such a brilliant cause. A huge thank you to the Regular Cleaning colleagues challenging themselves in order to raise money for this cause. Good luck!
